Hall Green greyhound track earmarked for 210-property housing development

Plans to close Hall Green dog track and build more than 200 family homes and apartments in its place have won support from local residents at public consultation, and will play a big part in meeting the need for new housing in Birmingham.

 Harris Lamb has been working with Euro Property Investments, who bought the track two years ago and now plan to build 210 properties and create a children’s play area and open space in its place. Access will also be created through the new development giving much better linkage to the railway station

Andy Lamb, director, said: “The Greyhound Racing Association, which operates both Hall Green and Perry Barr greyhound racing tracks, has acknowledged that there isn’t enough demand for both sites in such close proximity, and that the local community would be well served if the land was sold for residential use.

 “The site has excellent access to the railway station and is an ideal site to meet the housing need in Birmingham City Centre, which desperately falls short. It is a prime site, and a clear opportunity to develop a brownfield site and fulfil a need for the community.

“Plans for mixed housing on the site were submitted on behalf of Euro Property Investments before Christmas, and we’re expecting the scheme to be approved in May. We’re looking at creating a mixture of family housing and a number of apartments to appeal to young professionals working in the city,” he added.
