PARTNERSHIP ACQUIRES CONGLETON LAND FOR 29-HOME DEVELOPMENT
Harris Lamb has overseen the sale of a 1.8-acre site in Congleton to a residential developer.
MCI Developments Limited, working in partnership with Registered Provider Places For People, will build a collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes on the Back Lane site.
Acting on behalf of a private land owner, Harris Lamb’s planning team obtained consent for 24 new homes on the plot of surplus land to the front of Congleton Technology Park, before placing it on the market.
Following a number of bids for the site from house builders and housing associations, MCI Developments, working in partnership with Registered Provider Places For People, were selected as the preferred bidder.
MCI then applied to vary the planning consent in order to best fulfil the needs of Places for People, which involved increasing the number of properties to 29 and adjusting the layout to make them larger units, and having been granted consent, the acquisition was completed for more than £600,000.
Development work is now underway and the properties are expected to be completed in late 2018.
Andy Groves, of Harris Lamb’s Stoke office, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with the land owner and put an area of surplus land to a much better use.
“There was a great deal of interest from developers during the marketing period illustrating the continued demand for new housing in South Cheshire, and MCI were selected due to their straightforward approach to the acquisition and their strong experience and track record in developing similar sites.”
Bill Fulster, Senior Land Manager at MCI added working with Andrew Groves at Harris Lamb on this project has been a pleasure. We are convinced the scheme will prove very popular with new residents.
