BORN TO BE WILD
Saturday marks the beginning of the Wildlife Trust’s 30 days Wild event and Team HL are all geared up to hit the great outdoors and get involved.
The organisation’s initiative aims to get people of all ages outside to undertake 30 Random Acts of Wildness throughout the month of June, encouraging them to appreciate nature and the wildlife around them, be it the local park, the school playing field, their gardens or the area where they work.
Wildlife Trusts care for 2,300 beautiful nature reserves and most people live within a few miles of one of these special places, making this the perfect time to get out and explore one.
Rob Harrison of our Ecology team is spearheading Harris Lamb’s activities for the month, and has challenged his colleagues to take a leaf from his book to do a little low-level ecology of their own.
“It’s all within a day’s work for the ecology team to be out and about looking out for reptiles, birds, bats, water-creatures, flora and fauna as part of our day-to-day survey work, but we’ve asked those working within the business’ other departments to keep an ear – and an eye – to the ground to see what jumps out at them – not literally, with any luck, or they may withdraw from the project pretty quickly.
“Every day, we want to post pictures of what we’ve seen, from beautiful flowers to unusual birds, to each of the Harris Lamb social feeds as part of the #30dayswild campaign.
“We’re also going to support the Trust’s Big Weekend – which takes place on 15th and 16th of the month, by taking part in some of the events taking place around the region, as well as hosting a picnic lunch close to our Birmingham office where we can experience some of the beautiful wildlife we’re lucky enough to have on our doorstep here in the Second City,” he added.
