HARRIS LAMB SECURES PERMISSION FOR 185-HOME SCHEME IN PINVIN

Working with house builders David Wilson homes, part of Barratt Redrow, planners at Harris Lamb have secured permission for the construction of 185 new homes in a Worcestershire village.

The business’ planning consultancy submitted an application to Wychavon District Council, on behalf of David Wilson Homes, seeking outline permission for the development of a 40-acre agricultural site forming part of Orchard Farm to the north of Owletts End, Pinvin.

Simon Hawley, Director, said: “This is an exciting application that will bring much-needed housing to Wychavon. The scheme will deliver up to 185 dwellings, 40 per cent of which will be made up of essential affordable housing, and a number of self-build plots, as well as a local centre, public open space including a play area, and associated infrastructure.

“The inclusion of the self-build/custom build units is of particular interest in the context of the current housing land supply deficit, and we are delighted that the planning committee have approved the plans,” he added.

The Council Planning Committee concluded that while there would, in their view, be some harm to the landscape due to the redevelopment of a greenfield site, this would not be significant and would be outweighed by the benefits of the scheme and the mitigation put in place by the developer, including 15% biodiversity net gain.

The plans were approved, with additional conditions that David Wilson Homes would contribute a total of £1,292,118 to local educational institutions, provide £120,000 to Pershore and Upton Primary Care Network, and make a significant contribution toward sports and leisure facilities at Pershore High School to further support the local community.
