SET FOR A SCRUM: TIME FOR A #TEAMHL STAND-OFF

The Harris Lamb offices are currently resonating with smack talk as two of our number prepare to take each other on at the Tri Regions Property Rugby Tournament in Leeds next week.

James Willcock of our Residential Land team, who will once again take up his position as front-row hooker for the Midlands Property Rugby Football Club, will go head-to-head with back-row hooker Mike Burr of our Stoke-based Commercial Agency team, who has been chosen as part of the Northwest Property RFC for the charity event on Wednesday.

Now in its thirteenth year, the Tri Regions Property Rugby Tournament sees both regions compete against the Yorkshire Property RFC in the not-always-friendly fundraising event, which this year will aim to boost the coffers of Wooden Spoon, a Children’s charity which aims to channel the power of rugby to transform the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

James said: “Having played in this brilliant tournament in the past, it’s always a fantastic day of camaraderie, but I’ve never actually found myself playing against a colleague before. The whole Team HL ethos is going to be a little skewed this time, because whereas we’re usually all cheering as one, this time our colleagues are going to have to pick a side…”

Game Faces: Who would you put your money on? Mike (L) or James (R)?

Mike added: “While there may be a fair amount of banter being thrown around right now, we’re both very keen to do our bit to raise awareness and funds for Wooden Spoon, which has raised and distributed £1,000,700 in grants in the past year to support 107 charitable projects to help more than 113,000 disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people. Nonetheless, I still want us to win, and I think by default I should get the unwavering support of all of my Agency team colleagues, regardless of which of our offices they’re based at.”

The competition will take place at Leos Rugby Club in Alwoodley at 1pm, with our boys facing each other down at 2.10pm. Here’s hoping there will be no visits to the blood bin…

Thank goodness we don’t have a Yorkshire office too 😱
