280-HOME DEVELOPMENT IN BANBURY GIVEN GO-AHEAD BY COUNCIL
Planning specialists at Harris Lamb have secured the green light for 280 new homes in Banbury on behalf of David Wilson Homes.
Cherwell District Council granted permission for the high-quality residential scheme on land off Wykham Lane in Bodicote following detailed negotiations to ensure that the requirements of all stakeholders were met.
The approved plans also include large areas of open space, including a green corridor through the centre of the site, adult and child playing pitches, play and recreation areas, allotments and a 34-space car park to assist with the drop off and pick up times for the Bishop Loveday C of E Primary School on White Post Road.
The development of one to five-bedroom properties draws upon the unique heritage of Bodicote ensuring the completed homes will respond positively to their environment.
Sam Silcocks, of Harris Lamb’s Planning team, said: “It is good to see that David Wilson Homes remain committed to delivering this site. The developer has a reputation for its high-specification housing and this development will meet the high demand for quality housing within Oxfordshire.
“We also welcome the pragmatic approach taken by the Local and County Council in these challenging times for the construction industry in agreeing to the relaxation of a couple of the obligations in the s.106 agreement to facilitate an early start on site and the generation of much needed construction jobs,” he added.
Dominic Harman, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to deliver high-quality properties to Oxfordshire homebuyers and are looking forward to investing in a brand new community in Bodicote.
“As a five star housebuilder we’re committed to creating great places to live which meet the high demand for properties in the area.”
