SMILE! DENTAL PRACTICE GIVEN APPROVAL FOR EXTENSION PLANS
A Walsall dental surgery has been given the green light to expand after planning consultants at Harris Lamb secured permission to create new consulting rooms at the practice.
The Priory Dental Practice in Portland Road, Aldridge, was granted permission to create two new rooms after an application to extend the rear of the existing unit was approved by Walsall Council.
Sean Rooney, of Harris Lamb’s planning team said the business was asked to step in by the surgery after a previous application to expand the practice was rejected amid concerns about whether sites in the town centre could meet the additional need for dentist chairs and over proposed parking arrangements at the site.
“We were able to demonstrate that there were no sequentially preferable sites in the town centre and amend the plan so that the current parking arrangements remain unchanged,” he explained.
“The surgery benefits from excellent access to the public transport links and additional parking facilities provided by the town centre, so we felt that the extension could be supported without further parking spaces being required at the site; and the Council agreed with our findings.
“We are delighted to have secured permission for the client, which can now build the additional consulting rooms and staff room, enabling the owners to grow the practice further.”
