PERMISSION GRANTED FOR 57 NEW HOMES ON FORMER KIDDERMINSTER SCHOOL SITE
Planners at Harris Lamb have secured permission to build 57 new homes on the site of a former Kidderminster school.
The business’ Residential Land team agreed the sale of the 5.36-acre Stourminster School site on Comberton Road to Cameron Homes earlier this year, subject to the plans being approved.
Wyre Forest Planning Committee resolved to grant planning permission, subject to the signing of a section 106 agreement.
Sam Silcocks, of Harris Lamb’s planning team, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this result. The scheme secures a mix of high-quality family dwellings, while protecting and enhancing the woodland corridor that runs along Hoo Brook.
“This resolution has been secured in good time and this is thanks to the proactive and pragmatic approach taken by Cameron Homes and our Case Officer at the Council, Helen Hawkes, which ensured all the relevant policy considerations were positively addressed” he added.
The site has stood vacant since the Special School that formerly occupied it relocated to their new bespoke facility at the Habberley Learning Campus.
James Willcock, of the Residential land team, which has been acting on behalf of Place Partnerships; which manages Worcestershire County Council’s properties added: “We are thrilled that our planners have achieved this. They worked closely with Cameron Homes to ensure that the process was as efficient as possible, and it will be wonderful to see this land parcel put to such good use.
“Further to the signing of the section 106 agreement, we can complete this sale, so that the County Council can reinvest the receipt from this site elsewhere, and Cameron Homes can progress its construction plans to create high quality, much-needed new homes within the region.”
