Harris Lamb has enhanced its Professional team with the appointment of graduate surveyor Susan Boyd.
Susan, who joins from Leicester-based Bird & Howes, where she was a a Rating surveyor, is relocating to Birmingham and will work alongside Harris Lamb’s Business Rates and Lease Advisory teams.
She brings a Masters degree in Real Estate from the University of Reading, and plans to continue her career progression with the support of the business by studying for her Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) with Harris Lamb’s in-house mentor to become a RICS-qualified Chartered Surveyor.
Richard Fantham, Director, said: “We were impressed with Susan’s drive and ambition, and her enthusiasm to work with multiple specialisms within the business to further her understanding and experience and to advance her career.
“Susan is keen to expand her Lease Advisory experience, while her proven track record working within the Business Rates field will be a welcome asset this year, with the new 2023 Rating List coming into play in just a matter of weeks. We are delighted to welcome her to the team,” he added.
Susan said: “I was attracted to Harris Lamb for the business’s hands-on APC training and its fantastic success rate. When discussing the role at interview level, the ethos seemed to be a great fit for me – I loved the emphasis on support, and being to collaborate with and learn from a variety of teams across the business.
“I like that I’ll continue to be involved in Rating here as I have a good background within the field and over the past couple of years I enjoyed being able work with small and medium-sized businesses to offer guidance and support, something which was particularly important making the transition from Covid into an energy crisis.
“This role is more client-focused than my previous position, and I’m looking forward to working on larger cases within a client-facing role and taking the opportunity to progress my own abilities and my career,” she added.
